How can you help? 1-Spay or neuter your pets and help stop pet overpopulation. Last year, over 5,000 cats and dogs were killed in RI public and private shelters because there are not enough homes. That is equal to 14 dogs and cats every day of the year! There are several great low-cost programs in RI, such as Salmon River Veterinary Services. Also, RI Veterinary Medical Association www.rivma.org has a low-cost/assistance program. Call your local animal shelter as some shelters, like Warwick Animal Shelter, have regular low cost clinics. 2-Consider adopting a forever friend at the Warwick Animal Shelter (or any other shelter), a brand new, beautiful state of the art animal shelter. Directions: from 95, take the Jefferon Blvd. exit and travel East. The shelter is off Jefferson Blvd.; take a left at D'Angelo's and bear right at the split. Go over the bridge (RT 95) and the shelter is down on the left. Shelter hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 12-4 PM; Saturday & Sunday 11-3 PM, closed on Thursdays and holidays. Visit our website at http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/RI59.html 3-Volunteer! Positions are available for fundraising, direct animal care, dog walking, foster care, etc. NOTE: DOG WALKERS ARE REALLY NEEDED AT THE WARWICK ANIMAL SHELTER DURING THE WEEK! VISIT THE SHELTER OR CALL 401-468-4377 FOR MORE INFO. JUST A FEW HOURS A WEEK WILL MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN A DOG'S LIFE!
4-Help with our fundraising events! We need volunteers to help with our annual fundraising events such as our Cause for Paws Car Show, our Dog Walk & Blessing of the Animals, Pasta Dinner & Raffle, Breakfast & Raffle, bake sales and more.
5-Donate! Send your tax deductible donation to: Friends of the Warwick Animal Shelter, Attn: Betsy Cushman-Treasurer, PO Box 9285, Warwick, RI 02889. On behalf of the animals, we thank you.
